This heat strips all the natural moisture out of the organic cotton and linen fibers. It artificially accelerates evaporation, causing the fibers to become excessively dry and brittle. This thermal cycling stresses the physical weave of the fabric. Over time, the canvas can warp, the wooden stretcher bars can bow, and the ink can separate right off the brittle surface.
